Chest Wall tumours

Primary tumours start in the bones or muscles of the chest wall, whereas metastatic tumours have spread to the chest wall from a cancer elsewhere in the body and are always malignant. In children almost all chest wall tumours are primary tumours, while in adults they are more often metastatic.

Treatment of chest wall tumours depends on the type of tumour and its location and size. If surgery is recommended, Mr Scarci uses titanium bars and re-absorbable meshes to achieve a perfect anatomical reconstruction of the chest wall. This advanced technique greatly reduces the risk of infection and allows normal movement of the chest wall.

He was also the first in the world to use a custom-made titanium prosthesis to accurately match the patient’s anatomy after unsuccessful repair in another Institution. This type of surgery is very complex; for individualised advice please contact Mr Scarci to discuss your case.
